A MACV-SOG watch, reinterpreted
The original MACV-SOG watches of the 1960s had a day-date and tritium lume. On the Rec Spec OG Sunray, fluorescent green Super-LumiNova recalls that tritium paint, and the dark gray sunray dial recalls a dress watch more than a field watch, a detail we found worth keeping. The crown sits at 4 o'clock, tucked into the case to keep it out of the way on the wrist.

Is the Rec Spec an original MACV-SOG watch?
No. The Rec Spec is a modern Praesidus watch inspired by the MACV-SOG watches of the 1960s, not an original military-issued watch. The original Rec Spec and Rec Spec EX use the NH36 automatic movement, with a day-date display, hacking seconds and a 41-hour power reserve.
What size is the Rec Spec?
The Rec Spec collection uses a 38mm case. Its crown is tucked in at 4 o'clock, keeping the profile compact on the wrist and easy to wear under a sleeve.
What is the difference between the Rec Spec, Rec Spec EX and Night Vision?
The original Rec Spec starts at $295 with a stainless-steel case. The $355 Rec Spec EX uses Grade 2 titanium and a raised domed K1 mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating. The $375 Night Vision has a matte black plated stainless-steel case and block Super-LumiNova indexes.
