C-47 D-DAY - Aluminum Patina
- BATCH 1 & 2 SOLD OUT -
Description
With a dial from a C-47 Skytrain that paradropped troops on D-Day, the C-47 D-Day Aluminum Patina was made to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day on June 6th 2024.
Due to the origin of the dial (taken from a C-47 Hamburger door) each watch will offer a unique patina & scratch pattern. We've separated the dials into two distinct categories: Low Wear & Tear and, High Wear & Tear. As the name suggest, these two categories are meant to give you the choice as to the level of scratching you want from your C-47 Skytrain A-11.
For the indexes, we've used Swiss Super-Luminova and an extra-thick print for added volume ensuring high visibility in all conditions; especially as the aluminum can in certain conditions be quite shiny. The index style is taken directly from the markings painted on the fuselage of C-47s during D-Day.
We've also worked on a NATO Strap that bears the infamous "invasion stripes" - these stripes were meant to identify all the planes that would fly above the skies of Normandy during landing operations.
Meant to commemorate the 60,000+ Airborne troops that landed in Normandy for D-Day operations, the C-47 Skytrain A-11 bears the markings of a plane that lived through WW2 and has since been restored.

A Legendary Plane meets an iconic watch
The C-47 Skytrain was a military transport aircraft extensively used by the Allies throughout WW2 with 10,000+ built in its service history. Our C-47s were both used as paratrooper transports over the skies of Normandy on D-Day. Renown for its reliability & versatility, the C-47 has since become iconic for its incredible contributions to D-Day & the ultimate Allied Victory in Europe.
On the other hand, the A-11 Military Specification Watch laid the grown for a standardized “field watch”. Designed to be readable, rugged & affordable, the A-11 Spec was produced in over 150,000 pieces to equip the US Military during its WW2 campaign. It became the foundation of what we today define as a “field” watch with its large white indexes printed on a black dial. Readability at all costs.
For our C-47 D-DAY A-11, we’ve meshed two iconic pieces of D-DAY US Military gear into a single watch designed to commemorate the contribution of both men & machine during June 6th 1944.
