THE PROJECT
The Rec Spec was inspired by a conversation with John “Tilt” Stryker Meyer—a MACV-SOG legend whose unit relied on gear sourced outside military channels. Among their tools: rugged, civilian Seiko watches that blended stealth, legibility, and reliability in the field. These timepieces weren’t just watches—they were essential tools for survival in deep reconnaissance missions.
Today, and for the first time at Praesidus Watch Co., we venture into titanium! A bold step in our pursuit of material innovation. The Rec Spec Titanium is not just an evolution of a field-proven design; it’s a milestone for our watchmaking philosophy.
Crafted in Grade 2 titanium, this variant is lighter, stronger, and more corrosion-resistant than steel—built to endure the extremes, just like the men who inspired it. It signals a new era for Praesidus: one where we push beyond tradition to explore new frontiers in horology.

GRADE 2 TITANIUM
Titanium is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant metal known for its strength-to-weight ratio and durability in extreme environments.
Its naturally matte, gunmetal-grey finish lends itself perfectly to the brushed surfaces of the Rec Spec Titanium—reducing glare and enhancing stealth in the field.Traditionally used by NASA and Lockheed Martin for air force purposes, grade 2 titanium now marks a new chapter in Praesidus watchmaking. By introducing this advanced material to the Rec-Spec lineup, we combine modern engineering with combat-proven design, creating a timepiece built for those who move with less flashiness and light wrists.

Legibility
While the standard Rec-Spec was a repurposed dress model for combat use, the Rec Spec Titanium took that approach to a new level—starting with a full titanium dial that echoes the case’s rugged minimalism. Its brushed finish reduces glare while subtly catching the light, enhancing both form and function. Applied, italicized indexes rise …cleanly from the surface for optimal legibility, and coated in Super-LumiNova to ensure high visibility in low-light situations.

Integrated Crown
In order to preserve the spirit of the original 1960s MACV-SOG timepieces, the Rec Spec Titanium features a raised box crystal that echoes the profile of vintage field watches. We chose sapphire-coated mineral glass to strike the right balance between durability and authenticity, offering enhanced scratch and shock resistance … while keeping the warmth and distortion of classic domed designs. It’s a deliberate nod to the past, built tough enough for the present.

AN INFUSED HISTORICAL VALUE
Workhorse Automatic Movement
For the Rec Spec, we’ve used the rugged and dependable NH caliber from Seiko. More specifically, we’ve gone for the NH36 featuring the day-date complication that makes these watches so iconic. Featuring a custom date wheel to match the vintage SOG watches the movement is also the closest thing to the orignal caliber used in the trio of MACV-SOG watches. Featuring 40 hours of power reserve & a 21,600 BPH (Beats per Hour) the Rec Spec is ready for pretty much everything you throw at it.
US ASSEMBLY
As is standard for Praesidus - the Rec Spec is assembled & quality controlled in the USA at our workshop. Just like the original A-11 Spec watches were.
