UTAH beach A-11 - Ocean Blue
- BATCH 1 & 2 SOLD OUT -
Description
The Utah Beach A-11 was developed as a unique commemoration piece for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Made with sand we collected at UTAH BEACH on June 6th 2023, the dial is meant to represent the entire operation's area of D-Day. Made in collaboration with the UTAH BEACH LANDING MUSEUM, we will donate upwards of 30 watches to WW2 Veterans in attendance at the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
The top "color" dial's cut is in the shape of the Normandy coast where all 5 original D-Day Landing Beaches were situated: UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO & SWORD. These 5 landing areas are also marked accurately on the dial providing a full overview of the operation.
For the indexes, we've gone with a pretty creative approach. The top half of the dial has been punched through letting the sand shine through and act as the indexes. For the bottom half, we've used a transparent dial on which we've printed solid indexes. For the blue dial, this means there is no luminous within the paint.
For the caseback, as part of the commemoration, we’ve added a US Military M1 helmet & a “Czech Hedgehog”. Both are powerful symbols of the danger & sacrifice that the D-Day armies faced on June 6th 1944. Each piece will be numbered on the caseback at the very bottom.

The Utah Beach Sand Edition
Releasing alongside our C-47 Skytrain A-11, this commemoration piece features a dial made of sand collected from UTAH Beach: one of the 5 Normandy landing areas of D-Day. Made in direct collaboration with the Utah Beach Landing Museum.
The dial shape is directly taken from the shape of the Normandy Coast as found on this Naval Bombardement Map from D-Day. We’ve also marked all 5 Landing Beaches directly on the dial. This gave us a unique looking dial that tells the entire story of D-Day.
