The Battle for Iwo Jima brings in such symbolic imagery that we felt compelled to go the extra mile and offer 3 different commemoration pieces. Each are built to our Field Watch Standards and ALL will feature AMERICAN Movements.
Get Early AccessBuilding on the success of our D-Day 80th Commemoration, we received many requests for a similar tribute to the Pacific Campaign. This became the genesis for the Iwo Jima 80th Anniversary Project. The project pays homage to one of the most iconic island battles and images to emerge from the Pacific Theater. The design direction was then solidified when a former US Marine generously offered us some black volcanic sand he had collected during a ceremonial visit to Iwo Jima. This has led to three unique designs, each incorporating the black sand of Iwo Jima on the dial, and, a distinct perspective on the Battle of Iwo Jima. Oorah!
Get Early AccessIn February 1945, American forces landed onto the volcanic island of Iwo Jima, a speck in the Pacific that would become the theatre of some of the most difficult combat seen in WW2. Iwo Jima was a strategic target for the US as an airfield for US Bombers on their way to bomb the main Japanese Islands. Symbolically for both sides, this battle would be the first invasion of the Japanese Home Islands - marking a turn in the war.
Over 36 days, the U.S. Marines fought inch by inch across the island’s unforgiving black sands & Japanese-built fortification network. Their triumph, was symbolized by the iconic image of the flag-raising atop Mount Suribachi; Iwo Jima’s tallest mountain. Meant to symbolize the victorious Marines, it also became a symbol of sacrifice and bravery under fire from all in the USMC.
Just as the Marines’ tenacity forged victory on Iwo Jima, we’ve meticulously crafted this watch to embody the same spirit of resilience. Each dial is embedded with genuine black sand sourced from Iwo Jima’s beaches, transforming a raw piece of Pacific battleground into a lasting reminder of heroism. By fusing WWII-era field-watch DNA with modern engineering, we’ve created a collectible that transcends style—it’s a powerful narrative worn on the wrist.
